Earl Alward, 79 a resident of the rural Wallace community on Rt 1, Kingman died Thursday afternoon January 24 at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville. He was employed by Tunin & Morgan Coal Mines where he was a coal grader. He also farmed until 1972. He attended Wallace HS. He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge of Kingman and attended Freedom Church, Wallace. He was born July 26, 1905, near Wallace, the son of George and Harriet Byrd Alward. He married Berniece Rodgers of Cates November 25, 1925. She survives. Other survivors include a son: Paul, Cullman, Ala; 3 daughters, Mrs. Harold (Betty) Groce and Mrs. Gaylord (Ruth Ann) Prather, Waynetown and Pauline Crowder, Kingman; 14 grandchildren and 13 greats. He was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth & Robert, a brother and a great grandchild. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 27 at Thomas Funeral Home, Waynetown. Rev. Dorman Winger officiated. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. -kz

    Earl Alward, 79, a resident of the rural Wallace community on Route 1, Kingman, died Thursday afternoon, Jan. 24, at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville.   He was employed by Tunin and Morgan Coal Mines where he was a coal grader.  He also farmed until 1972.  He attended Wallace High School.  He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge of Kingman and attended the Freedom Church in Wallace.    He was born July 26, 1905, near Wallace, the son of George and Harriet Byrd Alward.  He married Bernice Rodgers of Cates on Nov. 25, 1925.  She survives.    Other survivors include a son, Paul, Cullman, Ala.; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Betty) Groce and Mrs. Gaylord (Ruth Ann) Prather, both of Waynetown, and Pauline Crowder of Kingman; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.    He was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth and Robert, a brother and a great-grandchild.      Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown.      The Rev.
